Modernizing Laundry Room Designs

Modernizing Laundry Room Designs – Greetings from midweek! I’ve been away from the blog for a few days, working on a few things behind the scenes. Just this morning, I had a meeting with my contact at the Committee on the Sheltered (COTS), a local nonprofit I work with every year (see all previous space conversions for COTS here ).

I learned that there are two other homes they use as transitional housing that need to be remodeled, and I will be working on them this fall. These houses excite me very much; There are two more kitchens to be renovated and at least two more bathrooms to be renovated. I’ll be sure to document space transformations here on the blog as I always do!

Modernizing Laundry Room Designs

Flip house in Las Vegas under construction, popcorn ceilings removed, walls redesigned. You know how I feel about the smooth texture; This makes the home look and feel brand new and is a great selling point for a home. The walls will soon be painted, followed by new flooring. We will be adding luxury vinyl plank flooring throughout the single story house, I will share as it happens.

Innovative Laundry Room Addition Ideas For Style & Efficiency

The first space remodel I will tackle in my house in Las Vegas will be the laundry room, it was framed as part of the garage and it doesn’t look very good in its current state but I’m going to polish it up, here’s a Look at it now, it’s very simple and blah.

The first thing to do is to cover the cement floor. I will choose the tile or waterproof vinyl plank that looks most practical. Additionally, the old washer and dryer need to be replaced with front loaders to modernize the space and make room for the folding counter.

I love using colorful painted cabinets in the laundry room. Let’s face it, this is a space devoted to a chore, but the beautiful tone on the cabinets in this laundry room by Ashley Winn Design makes this space more cheerful. Also hello beautiful cement tile floor!

This is a great laundry room design by Chris Loves Julia. It includes a wooden folding bench and upper cabinet for storing laundry-related items. I was also inspired by the idea of adding a small sink.

Budget Friendly Ways To Update Your Dated Laundry Room

Sticking with the colorful cabinet idea, the soothing green cabinets in this laundry room are a lovely color, the larger sink divides the folding countertop which is nice but I would prefer a smaller sink on the side.

This blue and white laundry room has always been a favorite space; I like to use a simple striped fabric to hide the storage area below and the stainless steel countertop.

The warm gray cabinets in this laundry room are so sophisticated, and the bordered paneling makes the space feel timeless and elegant.

I’m excited to share the transformation of this laundry room space and additional COTS spaces with you this year! Tell me your favorite things about your laundry room and do you have any suggestions for my laundry room remodel? I would love to read them!

Hello, I’m Kate! I’m a remodeler, decorator, pattern maker, and globetrotter who writes about great interior design, smart home renovations, and my travel adventures.

Please see here for a full description of all blog policies regarding comments, ads, copyright, sponsored links, guest posts and more. TODAY IS ANNOUNCEMENT DAY! It’s time to reveal our small laundry room makeover we’ve been working on for the last 5 weeks with the New Year’s New Room challenge! It’s surprising how much a place can change in such a short time. It feels so good to tick one more area off the list.

Let me start by saying we have a tiny laundry room. It surprises me that the room I (almost) use the most is the smallest room in our house. About 4 years ago I gave it a temporary makeover and installed DIY Pipe Shelves to give it a little something. But this year we went big and turned it into a completely custom, finished laundry room with the help of The Home Depot!

Basement Laundry Room Remodel Ideas

Guys, check out our laundry room!!!!! I really can’t believe how quickly this came together. I can honestly say that if you have a small laundry room like ours, you can complete this project in a whole weekend! So stop procrastinating and get started!

If you’re someone who has a small laundry room and doesn’t know what to do with it, trust me, you’re not alone! It can be difficult to figure out what to do with such a small space to maximize storage and keep it looking stylish at the same time. I’ll walk you through my thought process about the changes and what went right and what didn’t go as planned.

But before we dive in, let’s see how far this room goes! This is what it looked like before. I had built a cute DIY Pipe shelf here, but I wanted a completely custom look in here to make the space feel finished and go with the rest of the house. It was time for a change!

One of my top priorities when designing this laundry room was to install some cabinets to store detergent, mixed matching socks, and all that fun stuff. I made two Hampton Bay Assembled 36″ White Cabinets, which I love because they are already painted white and pre-assembled. It took maybe 15 minutes to install! I originally wanted to add a shorter center cabinet but when we started installing them I realized we were 1.5 inches too short and it wouldn’t fit. So I went to plan B and added a floating shelf.

Adding a countertop was also a must! I’m always throwing things over the washer and dryer and wanted a suitable finished area to fold laundry and add some decor. I always add some wood element to every room I design, and I thought the countertop was the perfect place to do it here. I fell in love with this Butcher Block Countertop. It’s absolutely gorgeous in person and I couldn’t be happier. We had to shorten the countertop by about 10 inches and this piece worked perfectly as a shelf between the cabinets. I love it when things work that way!

This countertop would also be great for a kitchen island since it has such a large piece!

Okay let’s talk about this backsplash!!! Oh my God, I can’t wait to tell you all about this Black Stainless Herringbone Adhesive Backsplash! Would you believe this is actually a rod on the backsplash? No thinset, no joints, so peel and stick? This pattern comes in 12X12 sheets and you peel off the backing and literally stick it on the wall. I started at the bottom center and worked my way out and up.

Another thing I love about this product is that it is SO easy to cut and cut. Unlike regular tiles where you need to have a special tile saw, this cute one makes perfect use of a miter saw. I really love how it turned out. It adds so much. If you’re afraid of tiling, start with this!

I ran out of tiles, I literally used every little piece I had left, so I ordered more with the intention of getting the tile all the way to the ceiling. But now I’m debating whether it’s needed or not.

It’s probably because of my PNW roots, but I’ve always been drawn to Forest Prints and nature prints. I love these modern woody prints and thought they would create a nice pop of color while keeping the room neutral.

When adding accessories to a laundry room, I instantly gravitate towards baskets. They feel very natural there. I chose a set of two of these 14″ Woven Towel Baskets for the countertop. They fit my rolled towels perfectly, and who knows, I might even need one of these larger guys for all the socks we’ve accumulated here. Right?!

You can also find this Black Woven Laundry Basket at The Home Depot. I love the texture it adds to the space.

Laundry Room Farmhouse Ideas

This blue geometric rug is from Mohawk Home. I decided to go with blue to add some color here and I felt it went well with the jungle prints.

So what do you think? Did I make some good changes? We have just entered February and it feels great to overcome these challenges.
