Cozy Living: Simple Ways To Feel Comfortable – Over the next couple of months we are changing up our bedroom furniture – AGAIN. PLUS decorations for the holidays. So I figured I’d share our current setup before Christmas throws in here and also share a few easy ways to create a nice living room.
Originally the plan was to get this beautiful green sofa for my office because I wanted something really big and comfortable. In the office space it is the perfect place to do something fun or unexpected with a pop of color. When we made our decision to go green I thought it would be fun to have a green sofa in our main living room for the Holidays. Delivery couldn’t have come at a better time to do something extra fun for the holidays.

I’ve rearranged things a couple times but it turns out the kids have talked and like the couch facing the TV – yup that’s a TV above our mantle.
Cozy Living Room Ideas From Designers On How To Make Your Interiors More Comfy
Who doesn’t love an extra cozy living room – especially in the long winter months – We live in Canada so I take my hibernation and cozy nights at home seriously. I like to consider myself an expert when it comes to binge watching Netflix shows and curling up on the couch.
COLD IS THE KEY. When choosing your great pieces of furniture go for functionality + comfort. There are so many great places to shop these days so you don’t have to sacrifice style for comfort. Timber Olio Green Sofa is a soft and wide sofa so it makes a great place to lounge, snuggle or read a book. We also chose the gorgeous Ceni Fresh White Armchair. I love your lines with the wood base. I suck at details and those verses got me on both of these new pieces. It’s very easy. I used the armchair as my morning coffee perch.
Pillows and blankets. In my opinion I cannot have too many pillows or throw blankets. My kids love to cozy up and snuggle under the blankets even on the hottest summer day. The name of the game is COZY. We also use pillows for extra seating on the floor when we have little friends or relatives visiting. Throw pillows and blankets are versatile and help create a harmonious space with your other decor, help tie in all the colors or even add a fun pattern. When the blankets are not in use, they are a great styling piece to place on the arm or back of an armchair or sofa.
FIREPLACE and/or Candles. When it’s cold outside there’s nothing like sitting by a cozy fire. It’s comfort, warmth, ambience – it’s relaxing. Even a single candle light makes a space feel cozy. The flicker of a fire and a nice glass of red wine. Do I need to continue?

Textures. A shiny box that is soft on the feet. Soft blankets + pillows. I love different textures that provide some interest and are a great opportunity to have fun with color or change with the seasons. I love textures like my pom pillow and my fave green velvet pillow from Tonic Living. I’m not pretty out of this place this winter. I have attached a jute rug here.
Here are some of my fave blankets: Woven Throw Blanket, Woven Throw Blanket, Sherpa Throw Blanket, Yucca Throw Blanket, Neutral Throw Blanket.
Here are some of my favorite pillows: Lumbar Pillow, Tasseled Pillow, Karma Pillow, Tasseled Pillow, Yucca Pillow, Yucca Pillow.
When it comes to entertaining you’ll want to make sure your coffee table or side tables are within arm’s reach so you don’t have to physically get up from the couch or chair to reach for your drink or shared snack. We have never had a coffee table in our living room. I couldn’t find one that seemed to fit the room but now, I’m not sure how to go back to not having one. This Toba Natural Teak Coffee Table is amazing! I love having round shapes, vs too many straight lines. The legs are SO strong I don’t have to worry about my kids leaning on it or crawling on it – yup that happens… This coffee table can even go outside which is awesome!

If your living room has hardwood floors or a stone tile floor and lots of glass surfaces like the one designed by Caroline Turner, warm it up with a large sofa and rich materials like velvet.

Take out your favorite coffee table books and display interesting articles that speak to your favorite places and hobbies. A fun and warm room by designer Scot Meacham Wood adds tons of conversation starters, which contribute to the overall fun and friendly atmosphere.
This sunny living room designed by Thomas Callaway exudes warmth, despite its large size and high ceiling. Callaway broke the room into zones to enhance harmony and then applied a soft butter glaze on the walls to give the room a golden sheen, and soft yet vibrant fabrics.
If most of the things in your living room are too old-fashioned and modern, break it up with some more chic elements, like the plain wooden stool in this space designed by Lauren Nelson, and/or add a piece of ancient information. The item in question is a classic grandfather clock.
Verdant greens and leafy fabric will make your living room feel more connected to nature. In the living room designed by Alex Kaehler, the nods to nature are even more comforting thanks to the roomy ottoman and tons of natural light. A modular sofa, white paneling, and loose, beachy furniture give this living room a laid-back and casual character that still feels sharp. And, because the living room shares space with the kitchen and dining room within a large open floor plan, Studio DIAA installed a curtain. A semi-sheer dress ensures plenty of light but also a sense of privacy.
This cozy sitting room in an upscale New York farmhouse by Heidi Lachapelle balances modern touches with restored architectural bones. It features many antique items, evoking the comfortable, simpler days of yesteryear.
If you have a smaller living room—or if you’re in a rental and trying to figure out how to add existing quirks, like funky tiles—consider this great room designed by Arent & Pyke. First of all, the snug room manages to pack enough seating and surface space inside, yet it doesn’t look crowded. And the company added eccentric tiles around the light box by painting light pink columns on the mantel and choosing a beautiful Art Deco floral fabric in complementary colors. A geometric rectangular table and contemporary lighting update the room. The end result proves that it is better to embrace and cherish what you have instead of fighting with it.
While colors can help brighten up a room, it’s not the only way. Take this neutral-toned living room by Kristin Fine, for example. Soft and texture-rich upholstery mixes with cream paint, rustic wood pieces, and plenty of antique accents to make a surprisingly modern impression. Better yet, Fine proves that he can have television above
